The Hospital Library's primary role is to support the clinical, research and educational activities of all staff, students, and associates of The Hospital for Sick Children by providing state-of-the-art access to information.
The library collects and stores information in print and electronic formats. Access to electronic resources is restricted to internal use by staff and visitors to comply with licensing agreements. Currently the Hospital Library subscribes to 300 print titles, 12 subject databases, 1500 e-books and over 1200 e-journals. Paediatrics is the primary focus of the collection.
Library staff provide orientation to the collection, help with literature searches, and send requests to other libraries for items that are not available through the Hospital Library.
Books, journals and videos can be borrowed by staff. Renewals can be made in person, or by phone during library hours.
