The Research Institute at SickKids conducts research activities coordinated under seven major research programs that undertake internationally competitive research and training in areas of research relevant to child health in its broadest sense. Institute scientists are also key leaders and players in Hospital-wide interdisciplinary centres that focus on specific key problems in childhood health and disease.

The Research Training Centre (RTC) was established in 1996 in response to a need for a more coordinated and integrated approach to research training at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids). The RTC aims to understand the various challenges of those training at SickKids and works with existing trainees to support and improve their research training experiences.
