Objectives
- Research: To develop new and innovative statistical and epidemiological methods for dealing with complex biomedical and public health problems.
- Capacity Building: To make important and sustainable contributions to the design and teaching of research methodologies to fellows, graduate students and clinician scientists.
- Networking: To promote collaborative network and partnership with local, national and international groups of similar interests and focus.
Specific Aims
- To work on methodological research innovations for the study of complex interactions among biological, environmental, social and behavioral factors and how they affect disease process, health outcomes and responses to treatment.
- To promote interdisciplinary research interactions among different scientific disciplines and improve appreciation and opportunities offered by distinct methodologies.
- To promote the application of innovative statistical and epidemiological methodologies in health research.
- To develop analytic and computational approaches to address common problems including multiple testing, missing data, small-sample size, spatiotemporal variation and hierarchical data.
- To implement and disseminate newly developed methodologies to the research and scientific communities.
- To build methodological research capacity and promote proper use of statistical and epidemiological methods by offering methodological workshops and short courses.
- To establish local, national and international network of collaborators that have similar research and educational focus.
