Welcome to the Mital Lab website
Our research focuses on the molecular basis of heart disease in children. This includes the study of DNA and tissue from patients with congenital cardiac malformations and cardiomyopathies. The goals of the research are to identify gene defects that cause heart disease in children, identify the influence of genetic variations on outcomes in children with heart disease, and to determine the effect on the molecular phenotype of the cardiac defect. The approach to research is translational and includes clinical and basic research methodologies to answer these questions.
